Emirates Aluminium is located at KIZAD (Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi) at Al Taweelah, Abu Dhabi. The smelter complex covers a site of 6km2 and is being built in two phases. 

In 2011, EMAL announced a $4.5 billion investment for its Phase II expansion. A groundbreaking ceremony was held in September 2011, with construction completed by the end of 2014. Following Phase II, EMAL boasts the world’s longest single potline, measuring 1.7 km, and its annual production capacity nearly doubled to 1.3 million metric tonnes. 

The project contains the following buildings:

• Green scrap box 

• Anode roding shop 

• Electrical building butts crushing 

• Main electrical building 

• Hydraulic room 

• Blower room 

• Unloading / loading area 

• Pipe bridge foundations
