The Mafraq road interchange plays an important role as one of the main gateways to the capital Abu Dhabi, connecting Dubai and Al Ain. The total area of the site is 450,000m², with a projected landscape area of 290,000m². 

The landscaping strategy developed by KN International features a bold, contemporary concept inspired by the image of the pearl. This design combines architectural and sculptural elements to define spaces and control the views of passing motorists, creating a sequence of visual experiences over time. At the heart of the design are two large golden ‘pearls’ resting on reflecting pools of water.
